Teri Spoutz

Teri recently retired as a Professional Staff Member from the Senate Appropriations Defense Subcommittee. She joined the Subcommittee in 2011 and was slowly assimilated into the political culture of the Senate. Prior to the Subcommittee, she was a member of the Air Force Senior Executive Service, was responsible for the financial management of all Air Force investment appropriations, and as a result of her performance, received the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service – the highest civilian award the Secretary of the Air Force can bestow.

Teri began her Air Force career in 1991 at the Space and Missile Systems Center in Los Angeles, CA, where she specialized in acquisition financial management for satellite, launch, and special programs. Looking for greater professional opportunities, Teri and her husband Steve moved their two reluctant grade schools children to the Washington DC area in 2003. Those kids have grown into amazing adults. One is the manager for a large Virginia winery, the other is a motorcycle technician for a Harley Davidson dealership in Florida.

Teri has an MBA from Webster University and a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Fullerton. Her secret to success is the belief that if you do the best job you can each and everyday, unexpected opportunities will arise.
