Velos is proud to announce that our prime partner, Vantage Systems, Inc. of Greenbelt, MD was awarded the Software Engineering Services Research and Development (SESRD) contract at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC. The contract was awarded on June 18, 2026, with options extending performance through June 2031. Under this award, our team will support NRL’s Naval Center for Space Technology (NCST) mission to develop advanced space technologies and deliver resilient spacecraft and aerospace systems for national defense and government missions. NCST serves as the Navy’s lead laboratory for space programs, responsible for advancing space systems, spacecraft payloads, tactical communications, and emerging aerospace technologies.
The team will provide comprehensive technical support across the spacecraft lifecycle, including:
- Spacecraft and payload integration and test (I&T)
- Real-time embedded and flight software development
- Mission simulation and modeling environments
- Ground system software and command-and-control (C2) capabilities
- IT infrastructure, systems engineering, and program management support
The work will enable NCST to maintain and enhance its extensive portfolio of reusable software systems and technologies used in spacecraft design, testing, launch, and mission operations. Performance will primarily occur at the NRL in Washington, D.C., with additional efforts supporting mission operations and system development activities across program locations.
“Velos is thrilled to expand our support to the NRL and the NCST. This opportunity not only builds on our team’s deep expertise in spacecraft and payload engineering, integration, and test, but also allows us to broaden our capabilities across critical mission areas including flight and ground software development, embedded systems, mission simulation, and advanced ground support equipment. We’re equally excited to continue our outstanding partnership with Vantage Systems, Inc., delivering innovative solutions that strengthen our nation’s space and defense missions,” said Ron Contillo, Managing Partner at Velos.
